Tehran, March 4, IRNA European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini urged Iran and the US not to lose the historical opportunity of striking a nuclear deal.

In separate phone conversations with Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the US Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday, she said that this historical chance to develop an agreement is not to be missed, according to dispatches.

She stressed that the EU is also committed to its promise of facilitating an agreement because it believes this is a historical opportunity to do so.

Mogherinis phone conversations came at the threshold of the new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the 5+1.

Mogherini also elaborated on Irans nuclear program during her address to the United Nations Human Rights Council.

In a separate development on Tuesday, speaking to reporters in the Swiss city of Geneva, the EU official warned against spreading fears about a final nuclear deal that is being negotiated by representatives from Iran and the six states.

Spreading fears is not helpful at this stage, Mogherini told reporters, adding, We are getting closer to a comprehensive accord aimed at ending the longstanding dispute on Tehrans nuclear dossier.

Her remarks came just as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has repeatedly attacked the emerging Iran deal, began his destructive speech at US Congress.
