Cutting dependency on oil top priority

TEHRAN Feb 24(Shana)--Head of Tehran Chamber Of Commerce Yahya Ale-eshaq says weaning the economy off oil revenues based on the views of the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution is the main target of the Islamic establishment.

Citing to the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution who referred to dependency on oil and being under state control as the two main weaknesses of Irans economy, Ale-eshaq said moving toward solving these problems are the main purposes of the economy.

He noted that cutting dependency on oil revenues is a big challenge for the country because, he said, the country should find alternative revenues.

He continued collecting more taxes is a potential option, even though levying more taxesdoesn'tseem reasonable with regard to present situation of the country.
Referring to boosting economic relations with neighboring countries as a priority, he said during the recent visit to Iraq around 250 Iranian businesses accompanies first vice president.
He said annual trade between the two countries hits as much as 12 billion dollars, of which six billion dollars go to exports of technical and engineering services.
