GENEVA, February 23. /TASS/. The first day of talks in Geneva between Iran and the P5+1 group of Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States and Germany has ended with no progress, Irans deputy foreign minister said.
"The discussions went off very well, but we have not reached any progress so far," Abbas Araqchi said following the negotiations.
The delegations of the participants at talks are leaving the European Union mission to the international organisations in Geneva.
The US representatives have refused to comment on the outcome of the meeting.
Western nations suspect Iran of using its nuclear research for developing atomic weapons while Iran insists its nuclear program is intended for peaceful purposes only.
The formal meeting between the negotiators from the P5+1 group (United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany) and Iran on the nuclear programme is not planned on Monday, a source close to the talks has said.
"No formal meeting is planned," the source said, adding that only technical discussions at the level of experts are expected.
The head of the French delegation at talks, Nicolas de Riviere, earlier said the talks had ended, without giving further details. The representatives of other delegations refused to comment.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif continue talks in Geneva on Irans nuclear programme.
