The fate of the Kurdish fighters remains unknown since the footage does not show the execution.
A new video, apparently released bythe Islamic State, shows 21 Kurdish fighters paraded incages throughthe crowded streets inthe Iraqi province ofKirkuk.
The Peshmerga fighters can first be seen inseparate cages. They are then interviewed byan Islamic State militant. The video cuts toblack afterthe hostages were forced tokneel infront oftheir captors.
The fate ofthe Peshmerga prisoners remains unknown sincethe footage, titled "Healing the Chest ofThose who Believe," does not show the execution. Howver, Shiraz Maher, a senior research fellow atthe International Centre forthe Study ofRadicalisation based inKing's College London, assumed that the prisoners were later killed.
The authenticity ofthe video has not been confirmed yet. Earlier inFebruary, the brutal Sunni group published a similar video ofprisoners paraded inthe Kirkuk province.
The latest IS video resembles the one showing the killing ofJordanian pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh, who was burnt alive ina cage earlier this year.
