Senior MP: Bahrain arming terrorist groups in Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Bahrain is arming terrorist groups in Southeastern Iran, a senior member of the parliament said on Wednesday.



Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi pointed to the recent capture of several terrorists and discovery of a cache of arms and ammunition in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, and said Bahrain was behind arming these terrorists, a report by the state news agency said.


He further stressed that Iran enjoys sustainable security thanks to the wisdom of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and its security and intelligence force, adding that not only the western countries, but also certain regional states are taking action to harm Iran.


On Wednesday, Spokesman for the Iranian Interior Ministry Hossein Ali Amiri said that the country's security and intelligence forces identified and arrested members of a terrorist group in Sistan and Balouchestan province.


Ali Amiri underlined that the military forces also confiscated amounts of weapons and bombs from the bandits.


He further added that Iranian police, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Iran's Intelligence Ministry were involved in the said anti-terrorism operations.
