Berlin, Feb 18, IRNA -- Iran will massively expand its presence at next month's 49th ITB Berlin tourism fair, widely regarded as the world's leading travel and tourism exhibition, organizers said in Berlin on Wednesday.

We are very delighted to announce that Iran has widened its presence at this year's Berlin tourism exhibit and will have its own hall as a result

of the ongoing tourism boom in that country, ITB director Martin Buck said at a news conference.

Buck quoted German tour operators as saying Iran had become 'a very popular travel destination' over the past two years and there is a continued growing demand by tourists to visit the Middle Eastern country.

Pointing out that Iranians were 'very hospitable' people, Buck stressed the fact Iran was also a very safe country for foreign tourists compared to many other countries in the region.

Iranian representatives of tourism agencies and tour operators will be showcasing their country's tourist attractions at Berlin tourism exhibit from March 4 through 8.

Around 10,00 travel groups from over 180 countries have registered to take part at fair, spread across 26 pavilions.

Mongolia has been selected as the ITB partner country for this year.

The high-profile exhibition is expected to host around 160,000 guests, among them 110,000 travel and tourism experts.
