Iran supports Minsk agreement on Ukraine crisis

Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed hope that the Minsk agreement to put an end to Ukraine crisis, Iran s Mehr news agency reported Feb. 17.
Zarif made the remarks upon his arrival to Minsk, Belarus for a two-day visit.

Iran supports peaceful settlement for the Ukraine crisis, the Iranian FM said, adding conflicts in Ukraine is a threat for global peace and security.

Zarif who is visiting Minsk at the invitation of his Belarus counterpart Vladimir Makei said that Iran and Belarus have close economic and political ties.

He also praised Belarus role in resolving regional issues especially Ukraine crisis.

It should be noted that the leaders of Ukraine, Russia , Germany and France agreed a deal on Feb. 12 in Minsk aimed at ending the fighting in eastern Ukraine between pro-Russian rebels and the army.

During his visit to Belarus, Zarif will discuss major international issues, ways of coordinating the two countries' positions in the world organizations and development of bilateral ties.
