Tehran, Feb 11, IRNA A senior official with the Red Crescent Society Nasser Charkhsaz said on Wednesday that 2,774 operational forces are currently offering much needed assistance to those affected by dust storm in southwestern province of Khuzestan.

Since the dust storms began a few days ago, 1,876 aid workers, 590 rescuers, four doctors and four nurses have been dispatched to the province, Charkhsaz said.

He also said that the Red Crescent Society has sent 75 different kinds of vehicles, including 43 ambulances and a bus ambulance to help residents of the province.

Over the past few days, residents of the southwestern provinces have been suffering from the dust storm.

Dense dust has forced residents remain at homes to keep safe from possible damages.

Abdolsaheb Sharifi, A health official in the city of Dehloran, Ilam province, also affected by dust storms, told IRNA on Tuesday that those suffering from heart and respiratory problems have to avoid leaving their homes and if they had to, they should wear surgical masks.

When there is choking dust, it's much recommended to drink milk, especially for those suffering from respiratory diseases, Sharifi said.

The main source of dust storms in Iran are deserts in neighboring Arab countries, Iraq in particular.
