Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA -- Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Tuesday that Iran may leave the negotiating table if the other party insists on excessive demands and violates the rules.

'Iran is to protect its legitimate rights and if they ignore it, Iran will leave the talks,' he said.


'We do not want anything more than our rights,' Ayatollah Rafsanjani said.

'It is the US officials who have said Iranians are hand folded in nuclear talks which is sign of their irrationality.'

Iran entered into negotiation table freely and under confirmation of its supreme Leader and has definite demands, he said adding that Iran seeks to defend its legitimate rights in peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Supreme Leader had already issued a Fatwa (religious edict) prohibiting manufacturing and stockpiling nuclear arms, Rafsanjani said, adding that anytime the Iranian government feels that Iran's rights might be violated, Iran will opt out of the nuclear talks.

They have admitted our rights in peaceful use of nuclear energy and know that 'We do not want anything beyond our rights but they should not look for anything beyond regulations and if they do so, Iran will walk out of talks.'

Great Iranian nation will attend this year victory anniversary of the Islamic revolution, he said.
