Government mulling subsidies cut-off of high-income Iranians

TayyebniaTehran, Feb 9, IRNA Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia said Monday that the final decision on whether the subsidies of high-income Iranians have to be cut off or not has not been made yet and that the government and the parliament are mulling over the issue.
Teyyebnia made the remarks while speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of a visit to the mausoleum of late Imam Khomeini during which he, his deputies and other managers of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance renewed allegiance to the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Paying cash subsidies has to be fair and the government and the parliament are discussing the case in their joint sessions, Tayyebnia said.

Referring to rallies due to be staged nationwide on Wednesday to mark the victory anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Tayyebnia said that with their high turnout, the Iranian people will show they are committed to their Islamic system and will not give in under pressure.

Tayyebnia said that President Hassan Rouhani's administration has acted successfully since taking power in 2013. He expressed hope that with the help of people, the government could achieve its long-term goals.
