MUNICH (AP) -- Iran's foreign minister says he hopes a Washington Post reporter being held on charges in Tehran will soon be cleared by a court.
Asked about the case of Jason Rezaian on Sunday at a security conference panel moderated by Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif said he had arranged for Rezaian's mother to visit him and "tried my best to help him in a humanitarian way."

He says "I hope that he will be cleared of the charges in a court of law, and that would be a good day for me."

Rezaian, his wife, Yeganeh Salehi, and two photojournalists were initially detained July 22 in Iran's capital, Tehran. All later were released except Rezaian.

Iranian officials have not announced the charges Rezaian faces.
