Trade, exports, transportation must be knowledge-based

Tehran, Feb 2, IRNA Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade said share of research in industry will be increased, adding that trade, exports and transportation development all are in need of knowledge and technology and all industries need to be knowledge-based.
Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh also said that the more technology and science is used in different industry, mine, agriculture and health sectors the more effective these sectors will be utilized.
He said all industries including oil, textiles, and wood are in need of becoming knowledge-based which requires more time and efforts.

Nematzadeh pointed to the operation of a research center for gearbox in the country and said currently planning for a road test center has been launched in Qom which will provide for implementing the required tests which were previously held outside the county to be held domestically.

Stressing that auto-making industry is in need of research, Nematzadeh said 90% of the countrys big industries are composed of small units which are devoid of independent research centers.

Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and the office of Vice-President for Science and Technology on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding for scientific and research cooperation for the entry of large-scale companies into knowledge-based economy and for the export development of knowledge-based products.

The memorandum of understanding which is aimed at realization of the 20-year vision plan was signed by Nematzadeh and Surena Sattari, Vice-President for Science and Technology.
