VP: Iran ready to transfer ICT equipment to Iraq

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans vice-president for science and technology affairs, in a meeting with Iraqs minister of communications, voiced Tehrans readiness to transfer Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to the Arab country.



In a meeting with Kazim Hasan al-Rashid on Wednesday, Sorena Sattari emphasized the necessity for further promotion of cooperation between Iran and Iraq in the area of ICT.

He also said that Iran is ready to send necessary equipment and technologies in the area of ICT to Iraq and provide training courses, in a bid to facilitate the promotion of cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

The ICT is one of the key areas of strategic technologies, which can provide good ground for the employment of the two countries youths, Satari said.

The Iraqi minister, for his part, described Tehran-Baghdad ties as extensive and good, and said that his country is seeking to boost mutual cooperation in diverse areas.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rashid hailed Irans backing for Iraq in its fight against foreign enemies, saying that the Islamic Republics supports for the Iraqi people is very tangible and commendable.

Iraq has been facing the growing threat of terrorism, mainly posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group.

The ISIL militants made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq over the last summer, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.

Amid tensions in Iraq, Iran is known as the first country to help the Arab country and has always voiced support for Iraqs solidarity and prosperity.
