Russia begins research on energy blocks for Iran
Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan stated that Russian specialists have begun engineering research for Irans future second and third energy blocks for its Bushehr-2 nuclear energy facility that should be completed by August of this year.

MOSCOW, January 22 (Sputnik) Russian specialists have begun an engineering survey forthe construction ofthe second and third nuclear reactors Iran's Bushehr-2 power plant, which should last untilAugust, Russian Ambassador toIran Levan Dzhagaryan said Thursday.
"In January 2015, our specialists began fulfilling the contract onengineering survey and collecting basic data forthe Bushehr-2 nuclear facility's new units," Dzhagaryan told RIA Novosti inan interview.

The diplomat added that the survey stage is scheduled tobe finished inAugust, witha planning stage tofollow.

The project forBushehr-2 was presented byRussian nuclear experts ata seminar inTehran inSeptember 2014. In November, Iran signed a number ofdeals withRussia forthe construction oftwo nuclear reactors and an option forsix more.

Atomic Energy Organization ofIran (AEOI) chief Ali Akbar Salehi was quoted assaying Monday that the second unit atthe power plant was expected tobe operational withineight years.

Bushehr, Iran's first Russian-built nuclear power plant, was launched atfull capacity insummer 2014.

An agreement betweenMoscow and Tehran onthe civil use ofnuclear energy and a subsequent contract onthe construction ofa nuclear power plant dates back toAugust 1992.
