Iran 1st regional power: Interior minister

Semnan, Jan 22, IRNA Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said on Thursday that Iran is the most powerful country in the region which is capable of playing influential role in creating international balance.
The minister made the remarks while addressing a local gathering in this central northern provincial capital city.
Fazli said during the post-revolution era, Iran has never been experiencing a normal situation but rather has been faced with various threats, foreign interference, sanctions and restrictions which wasted a large scale of its energy.

Running the country under such circumstances is only possible with the help of God, said the interior minister.

Referring to the crises created by interference of foreign powers in regional states including Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Syria and Lebanon, Fazli said world has experienced no stability following the fall of the former Soviet Union in 1991 and it is a duty for Iran to play a role in the present transitional juncture by acting like a determining power.

Fazli referred to Iran as the first Shiite Government in the world which should be accountable to the past, present and future generations.
