Two are reported to be in serious condition following the attack on Bus 40 on Derech Menachem Begin, a major thoroughfare in south Tel Aviv,near the Ma'ariv Bridge.
According to Magen David Adom emergency services, there are nine casualties in total, including three in fair condition, who were evacuated to Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital and Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. Four are additionally wounded in light condition.
The assailant was reportedly shot in the leg by Israeli policeon Hamasger St., near the scene of the attack.
Authorities are withholding the identity of the assailant, even though it has been reported by various media outlets.
The stabbing is being treated as a "terror attack," Israel Police foreign press spokesman Micky Rosenfeld wrote on Twitter.
