Western coalition lacks resolve to fight ISIL: IRGC commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said the so-called anti-ISIL coalition has failed to strike the terrorist groups command centers, adding that the fact signifies that the coalition lacks the determination to fight ISIL.

Today, they (the US and West) claim to be fighting against ISIL and have created a coalition of 60 countries against the group, Lieutenant Commander of IRGC's Quds Force Brigadier General Esmayeel Qa'ani said, adding, However, this coalition has not attacked even one of ISIL's command centers.

The high-ranking commander stressed that the Americans have neither the power nor the will to fight ISIL.

Since August last year, the US and its allies have been conducting airstrikes against ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) inside Iraq and Syria without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.

The terrorist groups made swift advances in northern and western Iraq over the summer, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.

The anti-ISIL coalitions air attacks have so far proven unsuccessful.

However, a combination of concentrated attacks by the Iraqi military and the volunteer forces, who rushed to take arms after top Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a fatwa calling for fight against the militants, have blunted the edge of the ISIL offensive and freed many towns and villages.
