Terrorism condemned by Islam: Irans top commander

Terrorism condemned by Islam: Irans top commander
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi underlined Islam's strong opposition to terrorism and the massacre of innocent people.

We condemn the massacre of human beings, no matter it occurs in Iran or Paris, Major General Firouzabadi said in Irans central city of Qom on Thursday.

Islam opposes massacre of people for no reason," he stressed.

He pointed to the attacks in the world in which ordinary people lost their lives, and described the attacks as "terrorism".

"Terrorism is condemned by Islam," Firouzabadi reiterated.

Earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had also condemned the acts of violence and extremism that are taken in the name of religion and Islam.

The comments came after a string of terrorist incidents in France that took the lives of 17 victims in three days of violence that began with an attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical weekly and ended with last Friday's dual hostage-taking at a print works outside Paris and kosher supermarket in the city.
