Zarif says new proposals are needed to go ahead with nuclear talks
Tehran, Jan 14, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Wednesday that new and comprehensive proposals are needed to go ahead with the nuclear talks with the western governments.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Geneva, Zarif said that the two parties need political resolve and courage to advance the current stage of the nuclear talks.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran expects the western governments to make breakthrough.

He said that there is the possibility of clinching a comprehensive agreement.

'We have now reached a stage that requires the other side to make a decision so that we can move ahead further,' Zarif said.

Voicing Iran's readiness to negotiate an end to all the remaining issues, Zarif said that Tehran has showed its resolve, but will not give up its right to peaceful nuclear energy.

Referring to a Fatwa issued by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei banning constructing or stockpiling atomic bombs, Zarif said: 'We feel no concerns about showing the peaceful nature of our nuclear program to the world.'

Asked to comment about the challenges of the US administration with the Congress and President Obama contacts with Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu, Zarif said that in the course of nuclear talks, Iran looks at the US government as a whole, and therefore it is the US administration that has to make coordination between different parts of the US hierarchy.

He made clear that a political resolve along with courage is needed to solve a dispute that he said can shift many regional developments towards improving.
