Over one ton of narcotics seized in Saravan

Zahedan, Jan 13, IRNA -- Some 1,460 kilograms of opium were confiscated in Saravan borders, commander of Sistan-Baluchestan Borderguards said on Tuesday.
Rohambakhsh Habibi added that as soon as borderguards got tip-off about the drug-trafficking, they took all likely entries for the smugglers under control.
Conducting targeted ambushes, they identified an automobile attempting to enter into the country illegally, the commander said.

The forces immediately stopped the vehicle, but the traffickers fled a border village after minutes of armed clash with police, he said.

Habibi further said that inspecting the village, hiding place of the traffickers was found, but they had dropped the package and fled away.

The package contained over one ton of opium, he said.
