TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans foreign ministry and presidential office for legal affairs pursue European Unions new sanctions against Sharif University of Technology through legal channels, the prestigious university's chancellor said on Tuesday.
Mahmoud Fotouhi told the Tasnim News Agency that the university is assessing the damages it has incurred as a result of illegal sanctions.

We have raised an objection to the new EU sanctions and the university's lawyer is following up the issue overseas, he underscored.

The European Union had sanctioned the prestigious university over its alleged involvement in Iran's nuclear energy program.

Back in July, the General Court of the European Union annulled sanctions imposed on Sharif University of Technology after the EU failed to provide sufficient evidence regarding the universitys alleged involvement with the country's nuclear energy program.

However later in November, the EU council placed the university on the sanctions list again.

Sharif University of Technology is Irans foremost higher education institute in the field of science and technology. As a civilian school, it attracts the best and the brightest, alongside other schools such as the University of Tehran. Some of its top graduates are now teaching in prestigious universities across the globe, including Europe and the United States.
