Iran tries to 'speed up' Nuclear talks with US representatives in Geneva

MOSCOW, January 11 (Sputnik) Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Sunday the Iranian delegation will seek tospeed upthe process ofnegotiations onTehran's nuclear programduringthe upcoming meeting withUS representatives inGeneva."Our negotiations withthe US representatives onWednesday will be strictly onissues only related tonuclear talks; we will try tosee if we could speed upthe negotiations and proceed forward," Mehr News Agency quoted Zarif assaying.

The statement was made ata joint press conference inTehran withZarif's Cypriot counterpart.

The Iranian and US delegations will hold bilateral meetings onJanuary 15-17. A plenary meeting ofIran and the P5+1 group ofinternational mediators will be held onJanuary 18 inGeneva.After years oftalks, inNovember 2013, Iran and the P5+1 group Russia, the United States, Britain, France, China and Germany agreed toprepare a document, ensuring the peaceful nature ofTehran's nuclear program. In exchange, the group ofsix nations guaranteed that the sanctions imposed onIran would be lifted. The sides managed toreach only an interim accord onthe nuclear issue.

However, duringthe Vienna talks inNovember 2014, the sides failed toelaborate a comprehensive deal and extended negotiations untilJuly 1, 2015.
