NIOC seeks oil in 34 anticlines

TEHRAN Jan 11(Shana)–National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) plans to study 34 anticlines in the western Lorestan province, NIOC exploration director Hormuz Qalavand said.
“There are 34 anticlines in Lorestan province, which should undergo studies and geological drilling,” he said.

He added that Lorestan province is potentially rich in hydrocarbon reserves and that two oil anticlines and six gas anticlines have already been discovered.

Qalavand said geophysical studies have been conducted by foreign companies.

He said NIOC has held talks with 18 foreign companies, including 16 Europeans, for investment in Lorestan’s hydrocarbon sector.
