Militant attacks kill 3 people in Iraq’s Samarra

At least three people have been killed and dozens of others wounded in a series of militant attacks in the holy city of Samarra in Iraq's northern Salahuddin Province.
Reports said the Takfiri ISIL terrorists were responsible for the deadly attacks, which took place on Thursday.

The militants first targeted the city center with dozens of mortar rounds and rockets, damaging several buildings. They then detonated five car bombs in other parts of the city.

All schools in the city were closed following the attacks. The schools had reopened on Wednesday after 90 days of closure.

The overall security situation in Iraq has worsened over the past months as the Takfiri ISIL terrorists, of whom many are foreign militants, have taken control of parts of Iraq’s northern and western regions.

They have been committing heinous crimes in the captured areas, including mass executions and beheadings of people.

The Western governments have contributed to the rise of the ISIL terrorists by sponsoring the militants fighting against the government in Syria.
