No color restriction on womens dress: Official

Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA - From the aesthetic point of view, there is no color restriction for womens dress, said vice president for women and family affairs on Tuesday.
Shahindokht Molaverdi made the statement on the sideline of the Third Tasnim Fashion and Clothing Festival, adding that traditional Iranian garments, inspired by nature, are very beautiful and spread joy in society.
Molaverdi said the right of choice regarding Islamic clothing should be given to women.

Iranian and Islamic garments are available in various colors, models and prices, she said.

The vice president said various garments, which are displayed in the festival, have been designed on the basis of Islamic and Iranian aesthetics, adding that this can help women select appropriate clothing for various occasions.

Molaverdi said the government has made efforts to supply Islamic-Iranian clothing in the domestic market in cooperation with the Industries and Mines Ministry, Presidential Department for Women and Family Affairs and the Union of Garment Manufacturer and Sellers.

Traditional and local Iranian garments, which are very beautiful, should be introduced to the youth to offer adequate choices to them, she said.

The Third Tasnim Fashion and Clothing Festival was held in Tehran from Dec. 30-Jan. 5.

The Islamic style of clothing is gaining more fame worldwide, as even people in non-Muslim countries are opting for Islamic fashion because they are unique and stylish.

Over 7,000 designers are active in Irans fashion industry.

Fashion shows are held in Iran throughout the year to promote the Islamic way of dressing fashionably.

Most of these festivals, which only feature women, are only attended by women.

They show that hijab (Islamic dress code) is not a barrier to Iranian womens social participation.
