Qom, Jan 6, IRNA � Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi on Tuesday stressed the need to preserve solidarity and avoid discord in Iraq in order to defeat enemies and prevail Islam in the entire region.
The Grand Ayatollah who is a spiritual guide for many Shiite Muslims, made the remarks in a meeting here with the visiting head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), Ammar al-Hakim.
�The Daesh (ISIS) terrorists have committed many crimes and created many problems in the region with the financial support of Western states but they failed to achieve their goals by resistance of the Iraqi people, assistance of the Hezbollah and guidance of Shiite clerics,� said the Grand Ayatollah.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi referred to Shiite clerics as a strong barrier against Westerners and Takfiri terrorists.

Shiite clerics have mobilized the Iraqi youth against world�s arrogant powers preventing the terrorist groups to make any specific progress in the region, added the ayatollah.
