Zarif attends Parliament National Security Commission

TEHRAN, Dec. 30 (MNA) Irans Mohammad Javad Zarif has told Parliament National Security Commission January 15 negotiations will be in deputy-ministerial level.
On Tuesday, Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission met, with Mohammad Javad Zarif attending the meeting supposedly to answer questions and issues raised by Commission members; however, Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, a Commissions spokesman told reporters that since parliamentarians withdrew their questions about the nuclear negotiations, Zarif and Commission members only discussed different foreign policy issues including nuclear negotiations and developments in the region; Zarif told the Commission members that the nature of talks and differences have made negotiations longer; however, it would continue very carefully, Naqavi Hosseini added, quoting Zarif as saying that if the western powers have great responsibilities and face overwhelming pressures, we will stand strong and as the Leader has recommended, would accept any reasonable proposal.


Otherwise, we will welcome any outcome possible; the letter addressed to the foreign ministers of all countries has made clear our positions about the negotiations, he quoted Zarif as addressing the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission meeting.


Mr. Zarif also said that the January 15 meeting would be in deputy-ministerial level and that Geneva Joint Plan of Action wielded deep impacts over the region, and created new grounds for the Islamic Republic to cooperate with other countries on; under current conditions, Iran would play a role of a strong hegemonic power in the region, which was well acknowledged by the enemies as well, Naqavi Hosseini detailed.


Mr. Zarif also emphasized that a national unity in foreign policy and a national position which avoids partisan and partial inclinations is key to our success in the negotiations; he said that negotiators would adhere the redlines drawn by the Leader of the Islamic Republic, the Commission spokesman said.Zarif reportedly had told the Commission that a lack of a specific decision on negotiations would be an impact of changes in their domestic politics.
