Iran, Iraq discuss ways to promote air transport cooperation

Tehran, Dec 31, IRNA Chairman of State Aviation Organization Ali Jahangirian and his Iraqi counterpart Saad Mahdi Saeed Al-Khafaji on Wednesday discussed ways to elevate bilateral air transport cooperation.
Board of directors chief of the Iraqi Airways Captain Al-Khafaji is in Tehran as a member of an Iraqi delegation led by Transport Minister of the country Baqer Al-Zubaidi.
Referring to large number of Iranian nationals willing to travel to Iraq on pilgrimage visits, Jahangirian said proper cooperation between national airlines of the two countries would help ease exchange of visits by the two nations.

He voiced Tehrans readiness to help Iraqi Airlines increase the number of its flights to Iran.

Meanwhile, The Iraqi official said an aviation academy is being established in Iraq through Irans assistance.

Al-Khafjai expressed hope that the number of visits by Iranian pilgrims to Iraq would increase as soon as security situation is improved in that country.
