Iran, a regional wind power generator

TEHRAN Dec 31 (Shana)--Iran is potentially able to become a leading generator of electricity from wind in the Middle East region, managing-director of Iran Renewable Energies Organization said.
Yousef Armoudeli said the capacity of electricity generation by wind turbines is growing.
He said a number of contracts have been signed for the development of renewable energies.
Armoudeli said low electricity prices do not motivate people to use renewable energies. He added that energy carriers prices are planned to be raised next year.
Iran generated a total of 203 GW of electricity from all wind turbines across the country in the calendar year to March 2014.
