Birjand, South Khorassan Prov, Dec 25, IRNA � President Hassan Rouhani wrapped up his one-day visit to this eastern province Wednesday night.
��He travelled to the province on Afghanistan border to get a first hand information of the situation.
During his visit, President Rouhani addressed the local residents of the province and held separate meetings with provincial officials, scholars, elites, businessmen, exemplary figures and martyrs' families.

Addressing a gathering of people in the capital Birjand, he said the inflation rate has dropped to 17 percent from the 40 percent at the beginning days of his office 16 months ago.

He noted that Iran experienced a 4 percent economic growth in the first half of the current calendar year (started March 21, 2014), adding that this meant the advent of a new era of economic prosperity for the nation.

The President also criticized western governments for blocking Iran progress.

President Rouhani has so far visited Khuzestan, Hormuzgan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Ilam, Lorestan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Ardebil, Khorassan Razavi, Zanjan and Golestan provinces.
