Iran football icon invited special guest of AFC Asian Cup final game

Tehran, Dec 24, IRNA – Asian Football Confederation has invited Iranian football icon Ali Daei to be the special guest of the 16th AFC Asian Cup final game due to be held in Sydney, Australia on January 31, 2015.
  According to Iran Football Federation, Alex Susi, the AFC general secretary, in a message to Director General of Iran Football Federation Mehdi Mohammad Nabi extended the invitation.

The 16th edition of the AFC Asian Cup is due to begin in Australia on January 9, 2015.

Iran has been placed in Group-3 of the tournament along with Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates and will play its first game against Bahrain on January 11.

Daei, an Iranian retired striker and a former captain of Iran national football team, has played for clubs such as Bayern Munich and Hertha BSC.

Daei, a former member of the FIFA Football Committee, is the world’s all-time leading goal scorer in men’s international matches.
