Solar panels in homes promoted in Tehran Province

Solar panels in homes promoted in Tehran Province
The head of Tehran Electricity Distribution says residents of Tehran province can now register for the installation of one kilowatt solar energy panels on their roofs.
IRNA reported on Saturday December 20 that the reduction of household power costs, a 50-percent rebate from the ministry of power and the potential for selling surplus power back to the power grid are the chief benefits of the equipment.

The report adds that incentives are also being offered to the private sector for both the use and production of the panels.

Seyed Ali Barband told IRNA the goal is to generate five percent of the countrys power consumption through solar panels, which would significantly cut the use of fossil fuels.

Barband also called on developers and construction companies to take advantage of the incentives and equip new buildings with solar panels.
