Iranian, Turkish calligraphers gather in Istanbul
Ankara, Dec 20, IRNA Iranian and Turkish calligraphers gathered at Iranian Consulate in Istanbul on Friday to survey the ways for fundamental cooperation, diversifying cultural ties among young artists of the two countries in the presence of the Iranian ambassador.
Present in the intimate gathering, there were such renowned calligraphers as masters Chalabi, Momtaz, Hamid Touran, Sarhad Grounor, Aflatoun Qelich, and Soltanpour.
In order to contribute to greater interactions among the Iranian and Turkish calligraphers and elevate the Islamic calligraphy, it was proposed to establish the Islamic World Calligraphers Association, which was welcomed by the audience.

It was also proposed that an exhibition of the works of renowned and praised Turkish calligraphers will be held in credited Iranian cultural centers.

The Iranian art of calligraphy was praised at the gathering as an art that came to existence thanks to the talents and the enthusiasm of the Iranian calligraphist artists in the vast geographical expanse from India to Egypt, and from Ottoman Empire to Pakistan and Afghanistan, as an art that is viewed everywhere with respect and admiration.
