TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian commander warned about keeping high hopes on the outcome of nuclear talks with the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany), saying that world powers are trying to undermine Iran’s influence.
The senior commander, however, said that the Iranian negotiators should continue nuclear talks within the framework of the Iranian ruling system’s interest.
His comments came as new round of negotiations between Iran and world powers on Iran’s civilian atomic program held in Geneva on Wednesday.
This is the first round of talks after the parties decided to extend for more 7 months a self-imposed deadline for signing a comprehensive agreement on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear work.
Iran and the Group 5+1 wrapped up a week of intensive nuclear talks in Vienna on November 24 without reaching the long-awaited deal.
