Irans military academy makes high-tech products

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Experts at Irans Malek-e-Ashtar university, affiliated with the Defense Ministry, managed to produce two new products for the military application as part of efforts to boost the country's defense capabilities.
The products include an advanced composite material known as prepregand a site for re-measurement of a radars cross-section, which have been chosen as the universitys two greatest achievements in the current Iranian year (began on March 21, 2014).

The term prepreg is an abbreviation for the phrase pre-impregnated. A prepreg is a Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) that is pre-impregnated with a resin.

The other achievement was a site for re-measurement of military radars cross-section.

Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, during a ceremony held at the Malek-Ashtar University of Technology to mark Irans Research Day, paid tribute to the university experts' achievements.

Dehqan said prepreg is used in the body of missiles and the rotor blade of helicopters, and could also be utilized in production of wind turbines and pressure vessels.

Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
