Railroad deal signed to connect China to Iran

Railroad deal signed to connect China to Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) A deal was signed to construct a railroad linking China to Iran via the three Asian countries of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistans Ministry of Transport announced.

Xinhua news agency reported that the deal was agreed upon by representatives from the five countries.

This project is expected to start from China's Kashgar to Afghanistan's Herat and finally be connected with the Iranian railroad.

Earlier this month, another railroad connecting Iran to Central Asia came into service in a ceremony attended by presidents of the three countries of Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

The North-South Transnational Corridor is a 920 km-long railroad line connecting the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan with Iran and the Persian Gulf.

Experts believe these transportation routes show that anti-Iran sanctions have had no bearing on the regional nations enthusiasm for taking the opportunity to cooperate with Tehran.
