Turkish FM due in Tehran next week
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Turkeys Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu plans to pay a visit to Iran next week.
Cavusoglu will arrive in Tehran on Wednesday, December 17, for talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The two will discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments, Turkeys Hurriyet Daily News reported.

The Turkish top diplomats visit will come at the invitation of the Iranian foreign minister.

Despite some differences on certain regional issues, Turkey and Iran have made efforts to develop relations in recent years.

The two neighboring countries seek to increase their trade volume to USD 35 billion by 2015.

Tehran and Ankara are currently at odds over the Syrian crisis.

While Turkey and some regional states, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, lend support to the armed militants fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad, Iran insists that the Syrian crisis must be settled through diplomatic and democratic channels.
