Tehran, Dec 9, IRNA- On the occasion of Research day in Iran, Dec16, President Rouhani is to honor top researchers, an official said on Tuesday.During the press conference of the 15th Exhibition of Technological and Research Achievements of Iran, Director General of the research affairs of Ministry of Science, Research & Technology Mozaffar Sharifi said: 21 top researchers will be honored in the fields of technical and engineering, basic sciences, humanities, agriculture, medicine as well as the ministrys researchers.
Three top scientific associations, two scientific journals and a scientific hub were approved by the specialized committee as well, he added.
Seventeen universities had submitted names of their researchers to the secretariat out of which 15 top researchers were selected to be honored during the research week of Iran, Dec 13-19.
During the week the 15th Exhibition of Technological and Research Achievements of Iran will also be held.
In the past couple of years despite anti-Iran sanctions, the country has made considerable progress in many areas including medicine, research, nanotechnology, biotechnology and aerospace engineering.
In 2009, the government formulated a 15 year comprehensive national plan for science focused on higher education and strengthening links between academia and industry in order to promote a knowledge-based economy.
