Mexico’s senate leader to visit Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said president of Mexico’s Senate plans to pay a visit to Tehran.
Boroujerdi on Sunday said Mexico’s senate leader will pay an official visit to Iran next year.
He made the remark in a press conference on his recent trip to Mexico City, adding that Mexican officials have invited Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani for an official visit to the Central American country.

The senior Iranian lawmaker said during his Mexico trip earlier this week, he and his accompanying delegation met with Mexico’s senate president, foreign minister and other officials to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues.

He said that during the visit, talks were held on cultural, trade and economic collaborations as well as parliamentary cooperation between Tehran and Mexico City.

Boroujerdi went on to say that a memorandum of understanding was also signed for expanding parliamentary relations.

Accompanied by lawmakers Mohammad Saleh Jokar and Fathollah Hosseini, Boroujerdi arrived in Mexico City on December 2 at the invitation of Head of the Mexican Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee Gabriela Cuevas Barrón.

It was the first official visit to Mexico by an Iranian parliamentary delegation in 35 years.
