Matinabad eco-camp among world top sites
TEHRAN, Dec. 06 (MNA) Matinabad eco-camp has been placed among worlds 18 top ecotourism sites with best performance in sustainable tourism.
Sustainable development section of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs held conference of Ecotourism, Poverty Decrease and Environment Protection in October 2013 and gave a report about the best activities which have resulted in promotion and development of cultural tourism and ecotourism.


Matinabad eco-camp is one of these camps. The camp has been founded in 2008 in Isfahan. In this camp tourists can enjoy bicycling, riding camels, walking on the sands and staying out during the night.


The camp is known for its active performance in terms of cultural, social, economic and environmental activities. The architecture of Matinabad eco-camp is based on Irans ancient caravanserai, which has been a staying place for all passengers alongside the important roads. The structure of the building is in entire accordance with its environment and the architectural style of the region.


All activities of the camp are based on energy-saving methods. Electricity has limited use and all lamps are environment-friendly. The use of fossil fuels is very rare and solar and wind energy are used instead. Generally 70 percent of the energy in this camp is provided by sun.


Matinabad eco-camp also has recycling system for garbage and does not use any kind of chemical pesticides. All needed material for the building and all ingredients are bought from locals to involve them in economic and social contribution of the camp and to help the economic and social growth of the region by sustained tourism.
