TEHRAN (FNA)- Senior Iranian Parliamentarian Gholam Ali Haddad Adel underlined on Saturday that Iran as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) has the right to advance its peaceful nuclear program.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a local ceremony, Haddad Adel noted that Iran has proved the peaceful nature of its nuclear activities during several rounds of talks with the Group 5+1 (the US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany), therefore, there is no logic for exerting pressures on Tehran.
He went on to say that based on international rules and regulations, Iran has the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, adding that western powers can not prevent Tehran from achieving such a goal.
The 10th and last round of negotiations between Iran and the six world powers was held in Vienna from November 18 to 24.
In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues.
After the last round of the Vienna talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU coordinator Catherine Ashton announced that the deadline for negotiations had been extended until July 10, and the world powers had taken up to release $700 million of Iran's frozen assets on a monthly basis.
