Phase 12 set to supply 81mcm/d gas
TEHRAN Dec 06 (Shana)--Phase 12 of the massive South Pars gas field is expected to feed 81 mcm/d of sweet gas into gas trunklines once its fourth platform has been constructed.
The first platform of this phase is already operational with a capacity of 1 bcf of gas. Production from this phase is reaching 60-65 mcm.
Phase 12 is the main phase of South Pars gas field, an offshore reservoir shared by Iran and Qatar.
South Pars covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Irans territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatars territorial waters.
The gas field is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the worlds reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
