Minister: Sustainable security, reason for growing transit of goods

Gorgan, Golestan Prov, Dec 4, IRNA Iran's Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said the sustainable security Iran enjoys is the reason for growing requests for transit of goods via the country.
He made the remarks here in northeast of the country after opening of a railway project connecting Iran to the Central Asian countries of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
He said enhanced security situation is definitely among major elements in encouraging the countries situated in north of Iran to seek transit of goods to free waters via Iran's railway network.

He said sustainable security is a major factor contributing to economic development and generation of jobs.

The minister noted that Iran was among world's top countries in terms of security situation.

The huge railway project opened on Wednesday in the presence of presidents of Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the railway, President Hassan Rouhani said transfer of goods among regional states should become more economical.

The railway is of 920 kilometers length, 85 kilometers of which pass through Iran, 700 kilometers through Turkmenistan and 140 kilometers through Kazakhstan.

Passing through Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, it will play a key role in transiting goods on north-south and east-west directions in Asia.
