Saba institute to display Persian paintings
Tehran, Dec 2, IRNA Over 150 works were selected at the 9th Persian painting biennial which will be showcased at Saba artistic-cultural institute.
The works were picked up according to the quality, the secretary of the biennial Amir Tahmasebi said on Monday during a press conference.
The 9th Persian painting biennial included fields of Persian painting, Gol-o-Morq (flower and bird), Tazhib (Illumination), Siah-Qalam (lit. black pen, a term referring to both the genre of paintings or drawings done in pen and ink) as well as Tasheer.

A total of 968 works were enrolled online of which 176 were finally picked (from the original ones) and hung in the cultural institute, he added.

The sections of Persian painting, Gol-o-Morq, Tazhib, Siah-Qalam and Tasheer received 400, 223, 187, 103 and 53 works respectively.

Elsewhere, a member of the selecting board of the biennial, Reza Yasavoli explained that the group, which included five persons, selected the works. Quality was a matter of significance, he noted.

A precious book of the selected works will be published which will be presented to the participants, he added.

The exhibition of the 9th Persian painting biennial will kick off on Saturday, Dec.6 and will close on Dec.31.
