Iranian, Tajik culture ministers underline expansion of ties

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Culture Minister Ali Jannati and his Tajik counterpart Shamsiddin Orumbekzoda, in a meeting on Wednesday, voiced their countries' firm will to widen and deepen cultural ties between the two Persian-speaking nations.
In the meeting, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost cultural exchanges for the next three years.

Based on the agreement, the two countries would hold cultural and art exhibitions as well as cultural weeks in the two countries. It also includes participation in festivals of the two countries, scientific cooperation and restoration of books and manuscripts.

in September, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and his Tajik counterpart Imam Ali Rahmon in a meeting in Tajikistan signed 10 cooperation pacts and a joint statement.

The cooperation pacts signed by the Iranian and Tajik presidents in Dushanbe included security agreements between the two countries' interior ministries, an agreement on fighting drug trafficking and a cooperation pact between Iranian and Tajik chambers of commerce as well as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran's Persian Language Academy and Tajikistan's Language and Reforms Committee.
