ZANJAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) Iranian archaeologists have uncovered 8 new historical sites during their recent excavations in Zanjan.Laleh Abdikia, an archeologist, noted that during these excavations that only went on for three days due to adverse weather conditions, eight historical landmarks were unearthed in Marash Village.
According to her, these sites belong to the middle Islamic era and historic period. The historic landmarks belong to 2300 years ago, that is the Parthian era, and the Islamic sites date back to fifth and sixth centuries and the time of Seljuk Dynasty.
The area considered for this excavation project is 211 acres.
She noted that the most significant landmark in this excavation is the 1000-year-old Marash Castle Hill.
This archeologist expressed hope that by examining the geographical scope of this area and considering its unique environmental features, evidence on human settlements in prehistoric eras will alsobeobtained.
