Iran Supreme Leader says not opposed to extension of nuclear talks

(Reuters) – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Thursday he was not against an extension of nuclear talks between the Islamic Republic and world powers.

“For the same reasons I wasn’t against negotiations, I’m also not against the extension, Khamenei said, according to his website.

The Supreme Leader also said that the United States, notĀ Iran, would be the biggest loser should the nuclear talks fail.

IranĀ and six powers failed on Monday for a second time this year to resolve their 12-year stand-off over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, and gave themselves seven more months to clinch a deal.
