Economy minister in Turkey to attend COMCEC session

Istanbul, Nov 26, IRNA Iranian Economy Minister Ali Tayyebnia arrived here Wednesday to attend the 30th Session of OIC Standing Committee on Commercial and Economic Cooperation (COMCEC) General Assembly.
According to the IRNA correspondent in Turkey, Tayyebnia was received in Istanbul Airport by Irans Consul General Mohsen Mortezaiefar and some Turkish local officials.
The COMCEC General Assembly is scheduled to be held in Istanbul from 25 to 28 November 2014 and chaired by the Turkish President Recep Teyyib Erdogan.

Senior experts of the Standing Committee of COMCEC had long and intensive meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare the agenda for the Thursday and Friday ministerial meeting.

The Iranian delegation in that meeting proposed holding the COMCEC Health Tourism meeting in Irans Holy Mashhad City, which was welcomed by the member states.

Deputy Economy Minister for International Affairs Zohreh Bahrebar added in an interview with IRNA that the main topic in that two-day meeting will be further development of tourism among the member-states and surveying the roles and extent of participation of private and state sectors in each country.

The Standing Committee of COMCEC, dubbed as the COMCEC Committee, is one of the specialized OIC committees and decision on its establishment was made during the 1981 OIC Summit Meeting. It was decided in that year that Turkey will be both the permanent COMCEC chairman and its host.

Yet, COMCEC was actually established in 1984 aimed at development of economic cooperation and harmony among the OIC member states.
