Manama, Nov 27, IRNA � The people of Bahrain continue on Thursday to express hatred against storm into the house of the leading Shia cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim in Daraz region, west of the capital Manama by the regime's troops.


 
Bahraini security forces have raided and searched the house of the leading Ayatollah amid an ongoing crackdown on the opposition.


Bahrain has been severely criticized by human rights groups for its harsh crackdown on anti-government protests which has claimed lives of scores of people so far.

Ayatollah Qassem has been the spiritual leader of the revolution in Bahrain since it has started in mid February 2010.

The raid on his home came just a few days after people voted in an alternative election held by the main opposition parties of Bahrain.

The insulting move by the regime of Bahrain has triggered rage of the Bahrainis who believed desecration of religious symbols and insulting Ulema and leaders who are loved by the people are just aborted attempts made by security forces of the Bahraini regime.

A number of Bahraini Ulema reacted to the insulting act by urging Manama to arrest and punish those involved in the raid and respect public's sentiment for their leading religious figures.

Social networks were flooded in the past two days with waves of statements posted by Bahrainis to express their irritation over the move.

Since mid-February 2010, thousands of protesters have held numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the royal family to give up power.

Sheikh Qassem's speeches and sermons during the Friday prayers including his call on the people of Bahrain to resists against the Al-Khalifa and al-Saud troops' violations and attacks against women play a key role in Bahrain's revolution.

In 2011, Bahrain's Ministry of Justice issued an insulting letter against Sheikh Qasem to undermine his respect among people but they, in response, boycotted Friday prayers held throughout the Arab country on August 26, 2011, except the one led by Sheikh Qassem.

In another development, when Bahraini King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa said the number of Sheikh Qassem's followers was small, his supporters staged a half-a-million strong rally in Manama on May 18, 2012, which was dubbed the 'Labaik ya Bahrain' (Here I am O Bahrain) demonstration.

The huge gathering was the largest demonstration in the history of Bahrain which was held by over 50 percent of the people of that country. It was later called a 'referendum.' That was the first time that Ayatollah Issa Qassem attended a demonstration in person.
