Iran, Italy sign MoU to boost environmental cooperation
Iran and Italy have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote their cooperation on environmental issues, Press TV reports.
The cooperation agreement was signed in a meeting between Iranian Vice President and Head of the Department of the Environment Massoumeh Ebtekar and Italy's Environment Minister Gianluca Galletti in Rome.

The MoU is aimed at developing cooperation between Rome and Tehran in a wide range of environmental issues.

The document highlights cooperation on training and education, exchange of information, exchange of experiences in different fields of biodiversity, in the fields of water, air, soil, in the fields of marine biodiversity. We have many issues which are common between our two countries, Ebtekar told Press TV.

It (the MoU) indicates that countries like Iran and Italy are working to pursue clear environmental objectives and that is for the benefit of our planet, for the benefit of our future, she added.

The Italian minister, for his part, said that the cooperation agreement is a strong signal that Italy was keen to work with other countries on essential issues such as environment.

During her visit to the European country, Ebtekar also invited Italian experts and firms to take part in the 14th International Environment Exhibition due to be held in Iran next March.
